2 Teens Among 7 Wounded in Gun Violence Since Wednesday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Seven people were wounded, including two teenagers, in gun violence across Chicago since Wednesday morning, according to police.

One 17-year-old teen was shot around 7 p.m. in the 9600 block of South Greenwood Avenue in Pullman yesterday, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The teen was outside when a car emerged from an alley and opened shots, striking the teen in his hand. He was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

Another 17-year-old was shot Wednesday, this time in Humboldt Park, Pacheco said. The teen was near the corner of the 900 block of North Keeler Avenue around 4 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, Pacheco said. He was struck in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

• Most recently, a 29-year-old man was shot in Belmont Cragin late Wednesday, Pacheco said. He was driving a car in the 4600 block of West Palmer Street around 10:50 p.m. when three men approached and opened fire, Pacheco said. The man was shot in his back and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, Pacheco said.

• A 26-year-old man was shot in Rogers Park Wednesday night, according to Pacheco. He was in the 1900 block of West Birchwood Avenue when he was shot twice in his chest and was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in critical condition, Pacheco said.

• A 21-year-old man was injured in a drive-by shooting in Chatham Wednesday night, Pacheco said. The man was in the 8700 block of South Wabash Avenue at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday when a car drove up and fired shots. He was struck in his head and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Pacheco said. The man is a documented gang member, according to police.

• A 23-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham Wednesday afternoon, Pacheco said. The man was walking in the 1100 block of West 88th Street at 1:45 p.m. when he heard shots and felt pain, Pacheco said. He was struck in his left shoulder and was taken by friends to Little Company of Mary Hospital where he is in good condition, Pacheco said.

• A 21-year-old man was wounded in a Roseland shooting Wednesday morning, Pacheco said. The man was outside in the 10500 block of South Prairie Avenue when someone in a passing gray car opened fire, Pacheco said. The man was shot three times in his body and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition, Pacheco said. He is a known gang member, according to police.

No arrests have been made.
