Watch a Burglar Cut Through A Jefferson Park Garage Door in Broad Daylight

By Heather Cherone | October 21, 2015 2:01pm

JEFFERSON PARK — Police on Wednesday released a video of a man cutting a hole in a Jefferson Park garage and taking several items before riding off in a silver BMW.

The burglary was one of six police warned residents about earlier this month in Jefferson Park, Edison Park and Norwood Park.

The video was taken from a surveillance camera mounted on an adjacent garage in the 5200 block of north meade at 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 21.

In it, the man in the BMW drives through the alley, stops, backs up and gets out of the car before taking something that appears to be heavy to the garage door before police said he forced it open.

He spends several minutes pushing on the door before returning the item to his trunk. The man then carries items from the garage to his car.

The alert marks the fourth time this month police warned about burglaries on the Far Northwest Side.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call detectives at 312-747-8263.
