BRIDGEPORT — Chicago Helicopter Experience has added a new item to its flying menu: “CHE Premier” — a charter transport service.
If you’re an executive or fat-pocketed local, that means you can hop on the company’s luxury helicopter — the EC135 — and catch a ride to a number of golf courses, casinos and regional airports.
The philosophy behind the new charter service is simple, according to CHE CEO Trevor Heffernan: Luxurious and fast.
A charter ride start between $1,400 and $3,000 per flight, depending on your destination.
The charter service will take you to area airports such as O'Hare International, Midway International, DuPage, Chicago Executive, Aurora and Gary. CHE Premier can also get you to 50 golf courses across the Midwest, including Medinah and Cog Hill, where the helicopter can land right in the fairway.
The new EC135 helicopter features a cabin similar to that of a private jet, comfortably seating five passengers and cruising at a top speed of 160 mph. The tourist model of helicopter — the red EC130 you may have seeing flying past the city — seats seven.
The CHE offices at 2420 S. Halsted St. opened May 1.
