CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was killed and another man wounded in a Roseland shooting early Sunday, police said.
The two men were in a car and about to pull away from the curb in the 10600 block of South Prairie Avenue around 2:05 a.m. when they were shot, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, Chicago police spokeswoman.
Before they could drive away, a shooter approached on foot and opened fire, Pacheco said. The men tried to get away, but their car hit a tree, Pacheco said.
The 22-year-old man, who was the driver, was shot in the upper back and was pronounced dead on the scene, Pacheco said.
The 19-year-old man was shot in the knee and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in "stable" condition, according to Pacheco.
Both men are documented gang members, a police source said.
No one is in custody.
