2 Killed, 7 Wounded In Shootings Since Saturday Afternoon: Police

CHICAGO — Two people have been killed — including a 3-year-old boy — and seven others were wounded in gun violence since Saturday afternoon, according to police.

The boy was fatally shot by his 6-year-old brother who had found a loaded gun above the family's refrigerator in West Town, police said. His father has been charged with child endangerment.

A 22-year-old was also killed in gun violence, when he and a 19-year-old passenger were shot as they sat in their car in Roseland Sunday, police said.

• A 37-year-old man was shot in the head in the 7900 block of South Lafayette Avenue in Chatham around 10:10 p.m., Saturday, according to Officer Anna Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokesman. The man was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head, Pacheco said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, she said.

• A 36-year-old man was shot in Belmont Cragin Saturday night, Pacheco said. He was standing in the sidewalk in the 5500 block of West Altgeld Street when a shooter appeared from an alley, opened fire, and got in a car before driving off, Pacheco said. The man was struck in his leg and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in good condition, Pacheco said.

• A 22-year-old man was shot in Washington Park Friday night, Pacheco said. The man was idling in his car in the 5300 block of South Michigan Avenue around 9 p.m. when another car pulled up and opened fire, Pacheco said. He was struck in his leg and taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Pacheco said.

• A 26-year-old man was shot after being robbed in West Garfield Park Saturday, Pacheco said. He was robbed by two men in the 100 block of South Homan Avenue around 8:45 p.m. when the robbers shot him in the leg, Pacheco said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition, she said.

• A 35-year-old man was shot in Woodlawn Saturday night, Pacheco said. He was in a car in the 6100 block of South Ellis Avenue around 8:40 p.m. when a light-colored car pulled up and opened fire, Pacheco said. The man was struck in his head and taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.

• A 40-year-old man was shot after an altercation in Scottsdale, Pacheco said. The man was shot in his hip after getting in an argument in the 8500 block of South Pulaski Road, Pacheco said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in "stable" condition, Pacheco said.
