WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — An 18-year-old man is dead and a 16-year-old boy is hurt after a Far South Side shooting late Wednesday night, police said.

Around 11 p.m., the teens were walking on the sidewalk in the 9700 block of South Peoria Street when an SUV pulled up and someone fired shots out the window, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, Sedevic said, after being shot multiple times in his abdomen and chest. He was later identified as Michael Fenner Jr. of the 9400 block of South Prairie Ave., and according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, he was pronounced dead at 1:52 a.m.

The 16-year-old was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition stabilized after he was treated for a gunshot wound in the groin, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody, Sedevic said.
