STREETERVILLE — Going to the Field Museum will cost a bit extra next year.

The Chicago Park District Board of Commissioners on Thursday approved admission increases for the Downtown museum beginning Jan. 1. Adult Chicagoans will pay $16, up from $13, while nonresidents will pay $22, up from $18.

The decision came after the board decided last month to delay its vote on the Field's proposed increases, which some commissioners thought then weighed too heavily on Chicagoans. Last month, the Field proposed a $17 fare for adult residents and a $20, or just a $2 increase, for nonresident adults.

Seniors, students and others will still get discounted admission, albeit more expensive. Seniors and students will pay $11, up from $10, and children age 3 to 11 will get in for $9, up from $8. Children under the age of 3 will still get in for free.
