CHICAGO — A Chatham shooting left a man dead and a woman wounded Tuesday night.

At 8:30 p.m., a 25-year-old man and 56-year-old woman were driving in the 8200 block of South Lafayette Avenue when another car drove up and someone inside fired at them, said Officer Janel Sedevic, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The victims drove to the 400 block of East 83rd Street, Sedevic said. They were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The man was shot in his abdomen died at the hospital. He was identified as Tracey Morgan, of the 7800 block of South Hoyne Avenue, by Cook County Medical Examiner's records. Morgan died at 9:27 p.m.

The woman was shot in her arm and listed in "stable" condition, Sedevic said.

The man was on parole, police said.
