WEST RIDGE — Warren Park Produce Mobile is headed back to the park Wednesday afternoon, and all that's needed to take home a fresh haul is something to carry away the fruits and vegetables in.

The giveaway is held every second Wednesday of the month between 9:30-11:30 a.m. All participants need to do is make sure they have something to put their bounty in.

"No restrictions" is the name of the game when it comes to the mobile produce store program that puts on the breaks at Warren Park, 6601 N. Western Ave., once a month throughout the year — organizers want everyone to have access to and enjoy fresh produce.

Ald. Debra Silverstein (50th) wrote in her weekly newsletter to residents the program has no qualifications as to who is eligible for the food, adding there are "no questions asked" when picking produce out.

Online, the program's head says he wanted to make a difference in the world, starting in his community.

For him, the Warren Park Produce Mobile was the way to do that.

"I have been incredibly fortunate in my life to never have to experience the difficulties I see in the world every day," writes the program's coordinator Sheldon Waldman on the organization's website. "I can’t imagine what it’s like to go hungry — and I think it’s a shame that in a country as great as ours, anyone should."
