PORTAGE PARK — Ghouls and goblins are sure to come dressed to the nines for a walkathon and trick-or-trunk event that will benefit O.A. Thorp Scholastic Academy.

The event will take place from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Thorp, 6024 W. Warwick Ave., and will raise money for a new computer lab at the Portage Park magnet school and fund continuing efforts to transform the area around the school into a campus park, organizers said.

Students, family and friends can wear their Halloween costumes and walk as many laps as possible around the designated course around the school and then go trick or treating in the teacher parking lot.

There will also be face painting and crafts available, and attendees can bid on pumpkins decorated by each class, organizers said.

Business owners are invited to participate in the trick-or-trunk event.
