Teen Killed in Chicago Lawn Shooting Identified: Authorities

CHICAGO — The teen killed in a Chicago Lawn shooting Wednesday has been identified as 15-year-old Davion Funches, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Funches was in the 6100 block of South Rockwell Avenue around 4:38 p.m. Wednesday when he was shot and found by police on the sidewalk, according to the medical examiner and Chicago police.

Funches was found with a gunshot wound to his chest, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, Chicago Police spokesman, although the medical examiner's officer said he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The teen is a documented gang member, according to police.

Funches, of the 6000 block of South Albany Avenue, was brought to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to the medical examiner.

No one is in custody.
