MOUNT GREENWOOD — The Tombstone 5K Run/Walk will return at 9 a.m. Saturday to Mount Greenwood Cemetery.

The fourth annual jaunt through the cemetery at 2900 W. 111th St. will again share a portion of the proceeds with the Maeve McNicholas Memorial Foundation and the Heart Connection Bereavement Program at Little Company of Mary Hospital.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear a Halloween costume. A post-race vote will determine the three best costumes, and winners will receive $50 gift certificates to Running Excels.

The Beverly running store at 10328 S. Western Ave. organizes the annual event and will also award $50 gift certificates to the top male and female runners.

It costs $30 to run in the chip-timed race or $25 for an untimed race. A family rate of $75 is also available for up to three people. All participants will receive a unisex hooded sweatshirt. Refreshments will also be available after the race along with face painting and a candy drop.

Runners and walkers can sign up for the race online. Packets that include a goodie bag and timing devices can be picked up at the store from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday. There is no parking available inside the cemetery on race day.

Participants can also register on race day from 7-8:30 a.m. for an additional $5 charge. Hoodies are limited to pre-registered runners and walkers only.
