People Stealing Mail From Postal Service Trucks on South Side, Police Say

CHICAGO LAWN — Someone has been stealing mail from Postal Service trucks on the South Side over the last few weeks, police said.

According to a community alert released Tuesday, at least one person has been spotted breaking into parked mail trucks and making off with packages and letters.

Police said the thefts occurred:

• Sept. 14 in the 5300 block of West 64th Street

• Sept. 14 in the 5400 block of South Sayre Avenue

• Sept. 22 in the 7900 block of South Christiana Avenue

• Monday in the 6000 block of West 56th Street

All the incidents occurred around midday, the report said.

Police did not release descriptions of the suspected thief or thieves.
