LOGAN SQUARE — L'Patron serves up one of the top 35 burritos in the country, according to the latest rankings by some top foodies.

According to The Daily Meal's experts, the carne asada burrito comes in as the 6th best burrito in the country. Last year the burrito was ranked No. 5.

This neon green Logan Square spot has not only conquered Chicago’s burrito scene, they’ve conquered carne asada as well. Grilled to order, still a little pink, expertly seasoned, not overly greasy, it’s carne asada perfection. When partnered with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, homemade refried beans, and avocado (and roasted poblano chiles if you’re feeling adventurous), it’s a masterpiece.

L'Patron, 2815 W. Diversey  Ave., joins Irazu (1865 N. Milwaukee Ave.) in Bucktown as the only two Chicago burritos on the list. Irazu's chorizo burrito was rated No. 30.

The top burritos in the country are made at Tito's Taco's in Los Angeles, according to the list.

While these types of lists are typically a dime-a-dozen, The Daily Meal put some research into finding the best burritos nationwide.

The website combined research from the past three years as well as suggestions from The Daily Meal editors and readers, and asked 40 burrito experts to weigh in.

The group started with a short list of 130 burritos, separated them by region and whittled them down to 35.

The only other Illinois-based restaurant to make the cut was Maize Mexican Grill in Champaign.
