PORTAGE PARK — Runners will take over Portage Park's namesake park Sunday as part of the 16th annual Fall into Fitness 5K, organizers said.

Sponsored by Community First Medical Center, the 5K race, which will loop around Portage Park, will start at 8:30 a.m. at 4100 N. Long Ave.

Proceeds from the race will go toward the hospital's medical interpreters program to meet the needs of Polish- and Spanish-speaking patients, organizers said.

Runners will be timed with tags embedded in runners' race bibs, organizers said.

Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center became Community First Medical Center in January after it was sold by Presence Health.

Online registration is available through 6 p.m. Thursday. Registration on race day cannot be guaranteed, organizers said.

The fee is $20 for adults and $10 for children and runners older than 60. A family of five can register for $45, and children younger than 5 are free. The cost for race-day registration is an additional $5, organizers said.
