GLADSTONE PARK — Can a 20-mile bicycle ride burn off the calories in one of the massive gourmet burgers at BRGRBelly?

Bike 45 intends to find out.

The ride will leave at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Jefferson Park Fieldhouse at 4822 N. Long Ave. and end at BRGRBelly at 5691 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Gladstone Park for lunch, organizers said.

Along the way, the ride's route will take participants past the newly completed Neighborhood Connection Project, a massive paint and mosaic mural that links Edgebrook and Wildwood via a path underneath the Metra tracks.

Once an eyesore, the mural has transformed the underpass into a frequently used shortcut to get across busy Devon Avenue and the train tracks.

The ride will also cover a short stretch of the North Shore Channel Trail, organizers said.

BRGRBelly, the Northwest Side burger chain known for its gourmet burgers, craft beers and boozy shakes, changed its name from Ledbelly after a lengthy legal battle with the estate of the legendary blues musician that it was meant to honor, the owners said.

Participants should bring money for lunch and a lock as well as a helmet.

Bicyclists of all ages are welcome to ride, but children younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and adult riders may accompany no more than three children per adult rider.
