UPTOWN — After about six months of hopping through hoops, Bella 'Mbriana is hoping to open in Uptown in October, a manager said Monday.

The restaurant posted signs advertising "the traditional Italian Cafe" would be "coming soon" on the windows of the restaurant at 4656 N. Clark St. Friday and has been garnering attention from curious passersby since.

"We're finally starting to put our voice out there," said manager Nicholas Russo. "We're just waiting on some final maintenance procedures and the city inspection. It takes a while to get things ready in the city."

The family-oriented restaurant will offer southern Italian products including Caffe Moreno coffee and espresso, traditional pastries and desserts from Naples, gelato made fresh everyday, Russo said.

The restaurant will open early to serve coffee and pastries. From the lunch menu, expect soups, salads and sandwiches. Small seasonal four course meals will make up the dinner menu, according to Russo.

"Everything on the menu we plan to make ourselves," Russo said.

Their full menu is available on their website.

Uptown Update was first to report the restaurant would be opening in the former home of Ch'ava Cafe.
