NORWOOD PARK — With one in six Americans struggling to get enough to eat every day, the Northwest Side Hunger Walk will hit the pavement Sunday to raise money and awareness, officials said.
The 30th annual walk, which is organized by local churches and community groups, will raise money for the New Hope Methodist Food Pantry, Catholic Charities and Heifer International, which which works to eradicate poverty by providing families in developing countries with livestock.
The food pantry serves families in O'Hare, Edison Park, Norwood Park, Jefferson Park, Gladstone Park, Edgebrook and Sauganash. Families can get an emergency three-to-five day food supply once a month.
September is Hunger Awareness Month.
