EDGEBROOK — The Danny Did Foundation will celebrate its sixth anniversary with a fundraiser designed to raise money to help families with children suffering from epilepsy.

"An Evening of Hearts and Hugs" is scheduled to take place from 6-11 p.m. Oct. 24 at The Montgomery Club, 500 W. Superior St.

The Edgebrook-based Danny Did Foundation was founded by Mike and Mariann Stanton in January 2010 after the unexpected death of their 4-year-old son Danny in December 2009.

The evening will include cocktails and small plates as well as silent and live auctions and a comedy routine from host Pat McGann, who has performed on "The Late Show with David Letterman."

Advance tickets are $125 or $60 for those 30 and younger. Tickets at the door are $135 or $70 for those younger than 30.

The foundation has provided financial support to families in 46 states and six countries, officials said. The foundation takes its name from the last line in Danny’s obituary, written by his father: “Please go and enjoy life. Danny did.”

The foundation helps families buy monitoring devices that sound an alarm when someone with epilepsy suffers a seizure while sleeping, which can be fatal.

About 2.3 million Americans suffer from epilepsy, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
