UPTOWN — Earlier this week, Barrel of Monkeys debuted its new play "Fall Classic Grandma" at the Neo-Futurist Theater.

"Fall Classic Grandma," which will plays every Monday at the theater until Oct. 12, is "a collection of all-time favorite sketches and songs from it's long running revue "That's Weird, Grandma." All stories are "written by Chicago Public School students and adapted for the stage and performed by Barrel of Monkey Company members" according to a news release.

Never-before-seen stories from the 2014-2015 school year will be included in this year's performance. And the lineup changes weekly by audience vote, so no performances are the same, the news release said.

"Fall Classic Grandma" is directed by the Artistic Director Joseph Schupbach, who took over in 2014.

Barrel of Monkeys is an arts education theater ensemble that conducts creative writing workshops with elementary students in underserved Chicago Public Schools. Now in its 19th season, the company performs more than 300 student written stories, according to the news release.

Tickets for the performances at Neo-Futurist Theater, at 5153 N. Ashland Ave. are $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
