NEAR WEST SIDE — Jumbo thin-crust pizza purveyor Bacci Pizzeria will hold a massive eating contest next Saturday, the restaurant announced.

More than 100 contestants are slated to participate in the 13th Annual Jumbo Slice Eating Contest and Pizza Fest Sept. 26, a race to see how many supersized slices guests can wolf down in 20 minutes. Entrants qualified by eating two slices in less than 20 minutes at one of Bacci's eight locations.

The standing Pizza Fest record is a staggering seven-and-a-half slices, according to Bacci founder Lisa DiDiana.

The contest will be held at Bacci's Near West Side location, 2301 W. Taylor St. The top three finishers will be awarded cash prizes of $1000, $500 and $250, respectively.
