1 Killed, 10 Wounded in Shootings Since Monday Morning: Police

CHICAGO — A man was killed and 10 other people were hurt in shootings around the city since Monday morning, police said.

The man, 20, was gunned down in West Garfield Park late Monday night, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Earlier Monday, police shot a man they said was pointing a gun at officers, police said.

A 28-year-old man was shot in Humboldt Park early Tuesday morning, Pacheco said.

• Most recently, at 1:34 a.m., a 21-year-old man and two 16-year-old girls were shot in Back of the Yards, police said.

The group said they were walking in the 5400 block of South Wood Avenue when they heard gunshots and felt pain, according to Pacheco. 

One of the girls was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound in her left arm, Pacheco said, and the other was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital with a graze wound in her hip. The man was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital after being shot in his elbow.

All three were listed in good condition, Pacheco said.

• Around 10:15 p.m. Monday night, an 18-year-old man was standing in the 5400 block of West Adams Street in Austin when someone walked up and shot at him, Pacheco said.

The man was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in stable condition with a gunshot wound in his shoulder, Pacheco said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• At 8:19 p.m., a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were shot in the 3700 block of South Vincennes Avenue in Bronzeville, police said.

The woman was brought to Stroger Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound in her chest, Pacheco said.

The man was driven by friends to the University of Chicago Medical Center, Pacheco said, where he was listed in good condition after being shot in his lower leg.

Police could not immediately provide any information on the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

• About 25 minutes earlier, a 16-year-old boy was standing in the 100 block of North Laporte Avenue in Austin when he heard gunshots and felt pain, Pacheco said.

The boy was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in stable condition with a gunshot wound in his leg, Pacheco said.

Police said the boy is a documented gang member.

• Around 4:10 p.m., a 29-year-old man showed up at Roseland Hospital with a gunshot wound in his neck, police said. He had been shot in the 9700 block of South Parnell Avenue in Washington Heights.

The man was listed in stable condition after being treated, Pacheco said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.

Police could not immediately provide any other information about the shooting.
