NORWOOD PARK — If canceled checks, credit card statements and love letters from the one that got away are taking up valuable space, you can stuff all of it in bags and watch it be destroyed at a free paper shredding and electronic recycling event set for Sept. 26.

Sponsored by Ald. Anthony Napolitano (41st), State Rep. Michael McAucliffe (R-O'Hare) and Cook County Commissioner Peter Silvestri, an electronic recycling and shred day will take place from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 26 in the parking lot of St. Eugene Church, 7958 W. Foster Ave.

Paper clips, staples and other bindings should be removed from paper to be shredded, organizers said. Old electronics, batteries, inkjet cartridges, laptops and computers will be recycled in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. No TVs will be accepted.
