CHICAGO — Two officers were injured when a car ran a red light and hit their squad car in East Garfield Park late Friday, according to police.

The officers were driving south on Homan Avenue at about 9:50 p.m. Friday when a car ran a red light on Lake Street and hit the officers' car, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The offenders then fled their vehicle and led police on a foot chase before they were caught, Pacheco said. Charges are pending, she said.

One officer was injured in the car crash and another in the foot chase, Pacheco said. Both officers were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
