UPTOWN — Here are some things to do in Uptown this weekend:

Friday

Walk With the WarriorsSpend Sept. 11 walking the Lakeshore with wounded warriors from the No Barriers Program. Registration begins at 1 p.m. $25 suggested donation. Walk begins at 2 p.m. Cricket Hill, Montrose Beach, 4400 N. Lake Shore Dr.

Saturday

Uptown Saturday Nights: Uptown Saturday Nights is back this weekend with headliner Esso! Afrojam Funkbeat, a 10-piece Afro-Latin fusion band, headlining the event. Free walking tours will begin from Shake, Rattle and Read at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. From 3:30-4:30 p.m. Lantern Kickers will perform for kids of all ages at the Bezazian Library, 1226 W. Ainslie St. Esso! Afrojam Funkbeat will perform at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Uptown Entertainment District. 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. Free.

Sunday

Corgi Beach Meet Cancelled, But Great Day for Dog BeachEarlier this week, Jezebel reported there were over 2,200 RSVPs to this doggie gathering. "It was just supposed to be a general meeting for our small chicago area corgi group, less than 50 people. but the facebook event page was hijacked by people wanting to creep on corgis," commented one person, who said the group would not be going to the beach anymore. The Facebook event has vanished, but if the weather holds out, it'll still be a fun day to take your pup to the lake. Sunday. Montrose Dog Beach, 4400 N. Lake Shore Dr. Free.

9/11 Heroes Run Chicago: The Travis Manion foundation will be holding its annual 9/11 Heroes Run, which unites the community in remembrance of the heroes of Sept. 11 and the wars fought since. Proceeds from the race benefit the Travis Manion Foundation, whose namesake was killed by a sniper in Iraq in 2007. Montrose Beach, 4400 N. Lake Shore Dr. Sunday at 9:45 a.m.
