1 Dead, 5 Wounded in Violence Since Thursday, Police Say

CHICAGO — A man was killed and five others were wounded in gun violence across Chicago Thursday, according to police.

A 21-year-old was shot and killed in Humboldt Park around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, police said.

• The most recent non-fatal shooting took place around 7:50 p.m. in South Shore, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. A 35-year-old man was crossing the street in the 2400 block of East 75th Street when a man walked up and opened fire, Pacheco said. The man was shot in his abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, she said.

• A 20-year-old man was shot in his stomach at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Englewood, Pacheco said. The man was outside in the 6800 block of South Morgan Street when the attacker walked up and opened fire, she said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, Pacheco said.

• A 26-year-old man was shot around the same time in Roseland, Pacheco said. The man was in a car in the 200 block of East 103rd Street around 5:30 p.m. Thursday when another car pulled up and someone inside fired, Pacheco said. He was hit in his right leg and taken to Roseland Hospital in good condition, she said.

• A 16-year-old boy was shot in Roseland about 5:20 p.m. Thursday, according to Pacheco. The boy was outside in the 10700 block of South Indiana Avenue when a car pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking him in the right leg, Pacheco said. He was taken to Roseland Hospital in stable condition.

• A 38-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 2400 block of West 79th Street in Ashburn at 3:18 p.m. Thursday, Pacheco said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition, she said. More details on the shooting are not yet known.

No arrests made in these cases, Pacheco said.
