UPTOWN — For over a week, the status of the Magnolia Cafe has been unknown after a mysterious sign posted on the front door said the cafe "will be closed for this evening."

But Tuesday night, officials with the eatery announced via email that the restaurant had been burglarized Sept. 1 and would be closed indefinitely.

"They stole everything and destroyed the place," the restaurant said in an email.

Witnesses saw several people loading a truck and called police, the restaurant said.

The cafe, at 1244 W. Wilson Ave., was opened in December 2001 by chef Kasra Medhat, according to their website.
