CHICAGO — Thieves used a pickup truck to break into a store during a "crash-and-grab" burglary early Thursday, police said.

At 3 a.m., burglars smashed a white pickup truck into the front door of The Shop 147, 7225 S. Stony Island Ave. in South Shore, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The thieves then grabbed merchandise and drove off northbound in a black van that was waiting for them, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody in the incident, Pacheco said.

A similar incident occurred on July 2 at The Shop 147's store at 2321 W. 95th St. in Beverly. In that burglary, a pair of men crashed a minivan into the front door of the store but were unable to steal anything, according to police.

Sharp broken glass kept the men from entering the hip-hop clothing store in Beverly, according to police investigators.
