21-Year-Old Man Killed in Shooting Near Humboldt Park, Police Say

HUMBOLDT PARK — A 21-year-old man died after being shot in his back in Humboldt Park Thursday, police said.

The man was shot around 2:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Francisco Avenue, just north of the park itself, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Zala said.

Police could not immediately provide any other information on the shooting.
