CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man has been charged in Wednesday's accidental shooting death of 11-year-old Antwone Price, who family said was "beyond his years."

Police charged 19-year-old Eurel Wilford of suburban Rockford with one felony count of involuntary manslaughter and two other gun-related felonies.

The shooter was Antwone's uncle, a family member told DNAinfo Chicago Thursday.

The events unfolded Wednesday night after Antwone and his friend, who had been walking in the area, discovered a gun and brought it back to Antwone's house in the 7400 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue in Grand Crossing, according to police and the boy's cousin.

Police said Wilford accidentally shot Antwone while handling the gun around 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Antwone was taken to Comer Children's Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Wilford is scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
