CHICAGO — A woman is dead after a car "flipped" on the off-ramp of Lake Shore Drive onto Hollywood Avenue Thursday evening, according to police and a witness.

Officials said the 33-year-old woman died following a crash in the 5700 block of North Sheridan Road around 7:25 p.m. Thursday. Morgue records identified her as Jillian Tsirtsis of Crown Point, Ind., who was pronounced dead at 12:15 a.m.

Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman, initially said a man was killed in the incident, but the man in the vehicle did survive, according to published reports.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, he said.

According to the Tribune, Christopher Peacock, 33, of Indiana, and his girlfriend were headed to Ravinia in Highland Park to see Lenny Kravitz. The driver's father, Clarence Peacock, told the paper his son suffered head injuries and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.

Following the accident, Thursday, northbound lanes on Lake Shore Drive were closed for several hours from Foster up to Hollywood, according to the 20th District police.

By 11 p.m., lanes were reopened, but police remained on the scene with high-powered lights investigating the incident, with neighbors from nearby highrises peering down at the scene from balconies above.

Red crime scene tape roped off a portion just beyond the metal barrier between where Lake Shore Drive turns into Hollywood before Sheridan Road and the lakefront path at Kathy Osterman Beach.

A witness told DNAinfo Chicago that the car had flipped over and that car parts were strewn across the street.
