'SpongeBob' Musical To Feature David Bowie, John Legend, Steven Tyler Music

THE LOOP — An A-list team of rock stars including David Bowie, John Legend and Steven Tyler are contributing original songs to a SpongeBob SquarePants musical making its world premiere in Chicago next summer.

"The SpongeBob Musical," produced by Nickelodeon, will run June 7 to July 3 at the Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St., Broadway in Chicago announced Monday. 

The aforementioned artists will join Joe Perry, also of Aerosmith, as well as Jonathan Coulton, Dirty Projectors, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and rapper T.I. writing new songs for the musical. A cast has not yet been announced. 

Tickets for groups of 10 or more are available now by Broadway In Chicago at 312-977-1710. Individual tickets will go on sale in October. The musical will debut on Broadway for its 2016-2017 season after playing Chicago.
