CHICAGO — A few former athletes are looking for good homes this weekend.

Nonprofit Greyhounds Only will be at Bucktown Arts Fest, where attendees can meet adoptable former racing hounds.

Bucktown Arts Fest goes from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Holstein Park, 2200 N. Oakley Ave.

Greyhounds Only takes in former racing Greyhounds from all over the country for adoption and is a volunteer-run, suburban-based nonprofit.

Most greyhounds end their racing careers between the ages of two and five, and live to be 10 to 14 on average, according to Greyhounds Only.

The dog breed, while known for their athleticism, make great city pets, Greyhounds Only says.

"Retired racing greyhounds are gentle, sweet, good-natured dogs who can live in nearly every environment - from a city apartment to a sprawling country estate," reads the Facebook page. "Considered to be 40-mph couch potatoes, most greyhounds are your stereotypical lazy dogs."
