PORTAGE PARK — The work of a Northwest Side photographer will cover the walls of the Perkolator Cafe through Sept. 30.

The exhibit organized by Northwest Arts Connection will feature photos from Jody Magrady, organizers said.

The showing is the seventh in an ongoing series of events at Perkolator promoting the work of artists who live in the area, organizers said.

Magrady will discuss her work from 2:30-4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Perkolator, 6032 W. Irving Park Road, organizers said.

The exhibit will feature work from Magrady's Looking Glass project, which began in 2008 when she discovered an overgrown conservatory made of textured wavy glass.

“I loved looking through my viewfinder — through the glass to the distorted world within," Magrady said. "It felt like looking into an otherworldly snow globe.”

Magrady's work is notable for the way it reframes, and reimagines the translucent barrier and what exists behind it, organizers said.
