CHICAGO — The Chicago City of Learning's Back to School Jam will allow kids to code, play with robotics, write and more.

The event will enable children and teenagers to learn while earning prizes and digital badges, according to a Chicago City of Learning news release. Attendees will be able to participate in games — including "Minecraft" — and take part in robotics, coding, writing and music challenges, among other activities.

There will also be teen lounges, which are new to the event this year, according to Chicago City of Learning.

The Back to School Jam is noon-4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Jones College Prep, 700 S. State St. Attendance is free.
