Elmwood Park Man Dies More Than Year After South Shore Shooting

CHICAGO — A 19-year-old man has died more than a year after a shooting in South Shore, according to morgue records.

A man later identified as Richard Miller, 19, of suburban Elmwood Park, was shot multiple times in the 6900 block of South South Shore Drive on May 18, 2014. He was walking on the block when two people approached and one shot him, police said at the time.

He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Miller was pronounced dead at 9:17 a.m. Aug. 20 at Loyola Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, morgue records show. The autopsy revealed it was due to complications from the gunshot wounds.
