COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A Humboldt Park man was held on $75,000 bail Friday after prosecutors said he and several others jumped a man near Flash Taco in Wicker Park.

The 29-year-old victim was walking in the 1500 block of North Damen Avenue early Friday when he passed a group of 10 people, including 20-year-old Jabari Collins, according to Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antonietti, who spoke during a bond hearing Friday.

The victim bumped into one of the men, prosecutors said. As he turned around to face the group of people, several of them jumped the man — kicking and punching him, according to an arrest report.

While the victim was on the ground, Antonietti alleged, Collins reached down and stole the man's phone.

The victim later realized his wallet, which contained $150 cash, was also missing, prosecutors said.

The group ran off, and Collins was arrested just before 3 a.m. Friday in the 2000 block of West Le Moyne Street, police said. According to the arrest report, Collins had blood on his hand and admitted "he got into a fight with someone down the street."

Collins, of the 2400 block of West Division Street, was charged with robbery. On Friday, Cook County Judge Donald Panarese Jr. ordered him held in lieu of $75,000 bail.

The victim was treated at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital for bruising, police said.
