LAKEVIEW — Even Ald. Tom Tunney can't wait for Stan's Donuts and Coffee to open.

Last week, Tunney (44th) said on Facebook he was so anxious for the old-fashioned doughnut shop's arrival at Clark and Diversey, he journeyed to Wicker Park to try them firsthand.

I have been anxiously awaiting Stan's Donuts arrival at Clark/Diversey, so I stopped over at their Wicker Park location today to try them firsthand. They definitely do live up to the hype!

Luckily, Lakeviewers won't have to trek to the West Side much longer: Stan's will be here in two short months, the store's owners said in a statement. Set to open in October, it will be the third Stan's location after a Streeterville store opened last year.

Stan's was originally supposed to open at 2800 N. Clark St. in April — and then, later, June — but permitting issues delayed the remodel, it said online. It will replace the Jamba Juice that closed in 2014.

The East Lakeview store will offer up to 35 varieties of doughnuts, including old-fashioneds, fritters, twists and Stan's signature flavored pockets. Intelligentsia coffee and nitro cold brew will be offered along with tea, cappuccinos and housemade soft-serve gelato.

Stan's Donuts will be open 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week and later on weekends.
