BRIDGEPORT — Sure, you may have heard the news that Sox Park recently landed on a list of America's most vegetarian-friendly ballparks.

But if you find yourself at the three-game Cubs-Sox series this weekend and decide to venture into Bridgeport you'll find another South Side staple: meat.

Here's a look at some of the neighborhood's most celebrated — and carnivorous — delicacies:

Three Hogs Sandwich

Husky Hog BBQ, 335 W. 31st St. $9

You might as well call this one a “Plethora of Pork.” This pulled pork sandwich, made with meat that’s been smoked for 12 hours, comes with three slices of applewood-smoked bacon (smoked in house) and —  just for fun — some smoked ham. Throw all that on Texas toast with pickles and homemade sweet BBQ sauce, and you’ve got yourself a southern-born feast — or a post-game food coma.

The 17-inch Burrito

Pancho Pistola’s, 700 W. 31st St. $15.75 with beef or chicken; $20.95 with steak

This monster of the Mexican menu comes loaded with your choice of meat — beef, chicken or steak — along with lettuce, tomato, beans and cheese. The 17-inch burrito is more than a meal. It’s a challenge.

Char-Broiled Strip Steak Sandwich

Morrie O’Malley’s Hot Dogs, 3501 S. Union Ave. $7.35

The stripped-down version of this sandwich is enough to make this dish a South Side treat: Strip steak served on garlic toast. But ask anyone behind the counter at O’Malley’s what they’d throw on it, and they’d suggest mozzarella cheese, A-1 steak sauce and grilled onions.

Pork Chop Sandwich

Maxwell Street Depot, 411 W. 31st St $2.70

This is a daily go-to item for students and day laborers stopping by the storied hot dog joint’s order window for lunch. This one comes with the bone attached to the meat. That means you have to be careful navigating around this sandwich with your teeth.

Mother In Law Sandwich

Johnny O’s Hot Dogs, 3465 S. Morgan St. $2.79

Just imagine: A Tom-Tom tamale slapped on a steamed bun, covered with all the toppings you’d get on your Chicago-style dog — and then covered in homemade chili and cheese. Done imagining? Now head over to Johnny O’s quaint pick-up window.

Duck Fat Dog

The Duck Inn, 2701 S. Eleanor St. $12

You’ll find this one on the restaurant’s bar food menu, but it could easily compete on the restaurant's gourmet menu. The duck fat dog is made from duck meat, duck fat and beef — then wrapped in bacon and covered with cheese, pickled jalapeno, chili relish and homemade pickles.

Scotch Egg

Pleasant House Bakery, 964 W. 31st St. $4.50

Here’s another item you’ll find in the “bar snack” column — but the Scotch egg is enough to warrant a walk to the neighborhood's British-inspired haunt. Here’s how this glorious gastro dish is made: Encase a hard-boiled egg in sausage, add breading, then deep fry it.
