Metra Increases Security After 16 Parked Cars Burglarized or Vandalized

CHICAGO — Several cars have been broken into and vandalized while parked in Metra lots, according to Metra.

On Wednesday, two cars at the Brainerd Station at West 89th and South Loomis streets and six cars at the 91st Street Station at West 91st Street and South Prospect Square had their windows broken and items stolen, according to a Metra news release.

On July 31, eight cars were broken into at the 93rd Street Station at East 93rd Street and South Baltimore Avenue, according to Metra.

Metra has increased patrols in the lots where the incidents occurred, and it is asking customers to remember to not leave valuables in plain view when away from their cars.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call Metra Police at 312-322-2800.
