ROGERS PARK — Ald. Joe Moore (49th) sent an email to residents Thursday afternoon tipping them off to a "bit of good news" a day after a gang-related shooting occurred on highly trafficked Morse Avenue.

Moore said in a "reverse" prostitution sting headed jointly by the Chicago Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff's Office in the 7100 block of North Clark Street, 12 "Johns" — or men who solicited sex — were arrested rather than targeting the women.

"Rather than arrest the women who are themselves victims, the law enforcement agencies are concentrating on arresting the men who sustain the sex trafficking," Moore said.

Moore also said his office had received a number of complaints about the issue on the block, and said the operation would be conducted again in future "if the problem persists."
