HUMBOLDT PARK — Does Humboldt Park end at Chicago Avenue or Franklin Boulevard?
Neighborhoods are important to Chicagoans. That might be an understatement, but what is clear is that those neighborhood boundaries aren't set in stone in the eyes of many.
On Wednesday, DNAinfo Chicago launched an interactive Web app to hear from our readers in the neighborhoods what they think are their true neighborhood boundaries.
After one day of readers' drawings, the central area of Humboldt Park is pretty clear, but the northern, western and southern boundaries are all over the map.
The most obvious boundary in question is the northern boundary. Readers who participated drew three distinct boundaries to the north; at North Avenue, at Bloomingdale and at Armitage.
The eastern boundary was very distinct, Western Avenue.
To the south, most readers drew the boundary at West Franklin Boulevard, while a sizable number considered Chicago Avenue to be the border.

To the west, Pulaski Road was the most dominant choice, while some readers drew the border at Central Park Avenue, and a few others considered Cicero Avenue as the border.
The city is officially divided into 77 community areas, but those areas don't represent some of the city's neighborhoods including Bucktown and Wicker Park (they both fall under the Logan Square community area).
Some of the shifting boundaries can no doubt be traced to real estate agents and landlords on Craigslist.
