CHICAGO — A new art project — #ClimateThing — asks Chicagoans to consider what they would miss most if it disappeared due to climate change.

Favorite birds? The beach? Glacial landscapes?

A report released last year by the National Audubon Society detailed the devastating predicted effects of climate change on birds.

The report found that "nearly half of North American birds are at risk," according to Audubon.

The art project asks people to draw what they would miss most, and contribute it to a participatory art project taking place at Millennium Park.

The project comes from a partnership between Chicago Audubon Region, the Art Institute, the Lurie Garden and local artist Jorge Felix.

Each week, a "spokes-bird" will also be on hand and guests can learn how that species will be affected.

The event goes from from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Lurie Garden on Thursday and Aug. 20.
