WEST TOWN — A 36-year-old man was shot in an attempted robbery early Monday morning, police said.

At 12:10 a.m., the man was walking in the 1500 block of West Lake Street when someone walked up, pulled out a gun and tried to rob him, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

When the man ran away, the robber shot him in the buttocks, Pacheco said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.
