UPTOWN — It's time to nominate your favorite places and people around for the third annual 46th Ward Awards.

The categories this year include: best not-for-profit, the innovator award (arts and technology), best restaurant, good neighbor (business and individual), best storefront display and a new category this year, best new business. Click here to nominate.

Nominations began in August and voting begins Sept. 1, according to Citizens for Cappleman.

The award ceremony will be from 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway. Tickets are $46 for ward residents.

Last year, Pizza Rustica, a Lakeview Italian eatery run by Stefano Roman and his wife Juliana Montebello-Roman, was named Best Restaurant in the ward, which includes most of Uptown and parts of Lakeview. Uptown resident Gene Tenner (referred to by some who don't know him as "that weird guy on the trike") won the Good Neighbor award in the individual category. Bike shop Uptown Bikes, 4653 N. Broadway, received the Good Neighbor award in the businesses category.

Other 46th Ward Awards winners from last year were:

• Real estate company Flats Chicago, which received the ward Innovator award for its commitment to local arts initiatives

• The food pantry Lakeview Pantry, which received the Best Non-Profit award

• The Northalsted Business Alliance Security Team, which received the Leader in Safety award
