Cirque Du Soleil Raising Funds for CircEsteem with Benefit Performances

UPTOWN — Cirque du Soleil will be hosting two benefit concerts for CircEsteem at the United Center this month.

CircEsteem, located at Alternatives Inc. 4730 N. Sheridan Road, is a place for children of diverse backgrounds to come together and build mutual respect through practice and performing circus arts. The program has several interlocking programs that take a holistic approach to working with youth and provide address a social need, according to their website.

Since 2011, they've provided over $500,000 in class scholarships allowing hundreds of low income youths to participate.

The performances will take place on Aug. 13 and Aug. 27 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. under the Grand Chapiteau at the United Center.

The Aug. 13 performance will be VIP only with tickets costing $255. The tickets include: reserved parking, premier seating, preshow cocktails, appetizers, desserts and a goodie bag. Tickets to the Aug. 27 performance are $110. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.

All proceeds of the performance will go toward the CircEsteem mission of "uniting youth from diverse racial, cultural and economic backgrounds and building self esteem through the circus arts."

CircEsteem will be teaching residents how to spin plates, juggle and walk a tightwire at Buttercup Park, 4901 N. Sheridan Road, Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
