NORWOOD PARK — A Jefferson Park woman received a lifetime achievement award for her volunteer work with seniors in Norwood Park.

Sister Anne Marie Mullen, a retired member of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, has been volunteering at Norwood Crossing, 6016-20 N. Nina Ave., since 2000.

Kate Roche, director of the norVOLution volunteer program at Norwood Crossing, a senior living facility in Norwood Park, praised Mullen for her compassionate nature.

The center also named Joe Longhini, of Wrigleyville, volunteer of the year. The Lane Tech High School grad began volunteering in 2008.

More than 400 volunteers provided nearly 21,500 hours participating in 25 separate activities, including meal delivery, walking companions and bingo at Norwood Crossing.

Those interested in volunteering can call Roche at 773-577-5329.
