CHICAGO — Two people were shot, one fatally, in South Chicago late Thursday, police said.

Around 11:40 p.m., the two men were walking on the sidewalk in the 8900 block of South Houston Avenue when someone opened fire from a passing car, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Taylor J. Lewis, 35, who lived on that block, was shot in the left side of his chest and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:10 a.m., officials said..

A 19-year-old man was shot in left leg and taken to Northwestern Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting.
