UPTOWN — Ald. James Cappleman (46th) made an emergency police call to report "threatening" gang activity in Uptown, according to his staff and audio from the police scanner posted online.

"He called 911 and said there were some gang members who were acting threatening, but he wasn't directly threatened," said Tressa Fear, Cappleman's chief of staff. "It wasn't directed at him."

Fear did not comment on specifics of the activity, the police response or exact time of the call, but audio of the police scanner was posted to Twitter Tuesday night by Crime in Wrigleyville and Boystown blog.

According to scanner audio, gang members "14 to 18 years of age" had "threatened the alderman" on the 4500 block of North Malden Street, a few blocks from the 46th Ward office on Broadway. The teens, according to the audio clip, were members of the P-Stone gang.

Police could not immediately locate a record of the incident, according to Officer Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.
