BEVERLY — Authorities charged a man for robbing a Far Southwest Side 7-Eleven Monday night, Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th) said in an email to constituents Wednesday.

Keenan T. Knight was charged with a class X felony (the most serious level of felony) and a circuit court judge set his bond at $250,000, according to the email.

Knight had recently been released on parole, O'Shea said, after serving about two years of a four-and-a-half year sentence for attempted aggravated robbery.

He and an unnamed woman were arrested after robbing the store, 2421 W. 103rd St., at gunpoint, according to an earlier tweet from O'Shea, in which he said, "2 mopes in custody," a term informally used to describe unlawful or uneducated people.

O'Shea said his dad often referred to him as such when he was caught past curfew or for some other family infraction. As of Wednesday evening, the tweet had been deleted.

"On behalf of our community, I'd like to thank the Chicago Police Department's 22nd District and Area South Detective Division for their hard work in this case," the email said.
